Gone to the beach…

With all of this sunshine, I just want to get outside– especially to the beach! I grew up along the ocean, so sometimes I feel a bit stir crazy in Auburn without it constantly. But I am in luck at New Leaf today!

Barbara is back from vacation, so I’ve finally been able to get to my favorite part of our store– upstairs! For the past two weeks, I have felt as if upstairs has been a foreign country since we were down one person. I spent most of my time downstairs, so it was very refeshing this morning to get upstairs. I usually always know what’s going on upstairs, so I knew today would feel like an adventure. It was a bit overhwelming as I looked at the messy canvas– but it’s one that is being fixed today as I decorate and rearrange.

As I began to move things around, I ran into my “beach.”

Ah. Welcome home!

Stop in and see what’s going on in our upstairs store!

Quit Monkeying Around!

I was walking across the balcony upstairs when I had to take a double take as I looked down at the parking lot.

“It can’t be,” I thought.

Oh, but it was.

I ran across the balcony and down the stairs as I watched the car park. I busted in the downstairs store to find it full of customers and I could barely contain myself. Like a bullet train I headed straight back to the desk as Kevin was helping a customer check out.

“There’s a gorilla in the parking lot,” I said with a shriek of excitment. “I’m being serious!”

Kevin started to laugh and said,

“Are you serious? We need a picture of this!”

I did a 180 and marched toward the front door. The gorilla had just gotten out of a green Mustang and I hollered across the parking lot,

“This is awesome! What are you doing?”

I came to find out that a group of soon to be high school graduates were out and about just having some fun with the suit. I invited them into the store and the gorilla made himself at home!

Only at New Leaf!

Livin’ the Dream

Sometimes I feel like the guys get to have all of the fun around here! Seriously, they get to go out and venture about, digging through estates and what not, looking for “treasures.” (I know I’m ignoring the dirty work– like dust, smells, sweating and lifting stuff!) Of course I eventually get to see some of these ”treasures” and I have a blast when they come through the doors, but I’ve got that sense of adventure pumping through me that wants to get out there and get my hands dirty. I’m like Danielle from the American Pickers at times!

On days like today, when it’s quiet around the store and the guys are out picking up furniture (and on top of that I’m caught up on decorating!), I don’t know what to do with myself. So I usually kick back for a few minutes and “Live the Dream” as I like to say. (I can’t help it, I’m a Florida girl at heart). Our sidewalk packed out with furniture makes it easy… if only the guys knew. Ha!

At least when they come back, I’ll have plenty of fun things to get into and then share them with you on our Facebook, Pinterest and website! But I better get inside first before they get here… :)

Peace out!

The Idea Machine

Yesterday Kevin and I sat around for a few minutes brainstorming. We always do this whenever we get new pieces in or some have been sold, but we also do it for well, a variety of things. We both have creative minds, so we sit around and I write down whatever we may think of. We often laugh at some of the ridiculous ideas that come out of our mouths, but we believe no idea is a bad idea– you have to throw some around in order to find the best!

Kevin was on a roll with a “vision” ha, and he was spitting out steps pretty fast. I was listening and thinking,

“Junk, he’s fast.”

It was a great idea, that’s for sure. Now, who knows if it will really pan out, but it has some serious potential. In this mix of spouting out what it would look like, he said,

“I’m the idea machine!”

I about fell over laughing.. oh no he didn’t! Since then, we can’t help but joke about it. I thought it would be pretty hilarious if some of our customers came in and greeted him as the “Idea Machine.”

So this my challenge, or dare to those of you out there who like to laugh. Next time you stop in the store and call, if you speak to Kevin, greet him as the Idea Machine.

Ha. As usual, good times at New Leaf.

Until next time,
